Custom rigid boxes without the custom minimums.

Choose a stock size and color, send your artwork, and we print and ship. No tooling, no minimums in the thousands, and no long wait to find out if it sells.

Buying a custom rigid box usually means four obstacles.

Our stock program removes them all.

A real rigid box, not a printed mailer.

Set-up and Magnetic Closure Boxes are the kind of box someone keeps rather than just flattens for recycling.

Set-up and Magnetic Closure Boxes are the kind of box someone keeps rather than just flattens for recycling.

NAPCO can fill it, too.

Print the lid, assemble the contents, pack them to survive freight, label them by destination, and reorder without re-specifying.

How a rigid box is made

Why this box feels different

Most printed packaging is a folding carton — thin paperboard, printed flat, creased and folded into shape. It’s efficient and it’s everywhere, and it feels like what it is.

A rigid box is built from thick chipboard that doesn’t fold. The board is cut, formed into a permanent shape, and wrapped in paper. Nothing about it collapses. That’s why it has weight in the hand, holds a crisp edge, and doesn’t flex when you pick it up full.

It’s the construction behind almost every box you’ve ever kept — a watch box, a phone box, a good bottle of something. The format is the signal, before anyone reads a word on it.

Why you’re not paying for tooling

Normally, a rigid box is built for your job specifically. The board is cut to a die made for your dimensions, the wrap is printed for your artwork, and both happen before a single box exists. That’s the tooling, that’s the minimum, and that’s the lead time.

Our stock boxes are already built and already wrapped. Your artwork prints directly onto the finished lid.

Nothing has to be tooled, because nothing has to be made. That’s the entire reason this program can start at low quantities.

Choosing your construction

Set Up Box

Also called a two-piece or lift-off lid box

A base and a separate lid that lifts straight off. The name is literal, it arrives ready set up, unlike a folding carton that ships flat.

There’s a slight draw of air as the lid comes away. That resistance is why it feels considered rat her than casual, and it’s the reason this construction has been the default for premium retail for a century.

Choose it for:

• retail shelf presence
• products sitting in an insert of tray
• sample and specification kits
• anything unpacked once and displayed

Magnetic Closure Box

Also called a hinged-lid or magnet box

The lid is attached and folds over the front, closing with magnets concealed inside the board. It opens like a book, and it shuts with a click.

Nothing is needed to keep it closed, no ribbon, no tape, no tuck. That’s why it turns up in gifting and subscription packaging, and why people keep them on a desk long after the product is gone.

Choose it for:
• gifting and VIP sends
• influencer and PR kits
• subscription boxes
• anything opened in front of an audience
• anything you want reused

Tray and Sleeve

Also called a base with o-sleeve

The same base as our set-up boxes, with the lid replaced by a printed sleeve that slides over the top. The box slides out of the sleeve rather than being lifted open.

Because the sleeve is a separate printed component, it carries full-coverage artwork edge to edge — which makes this the strongest choice when the design is doing the heavy lifting. It’s also the easiest of the three to restyle: a new season, a new campaign or a new edition means a new sleeve over the same tray.

Choose it for:
• seasonal or limited editions over a consistent base
• subscription and multi-version programs
• the design changes more often than the product

Choosing your color

Black or white, and how to choose

Our stock trays and boxes come in black and white. It isn’t only an aesthetic choice, it changes how your artwork reads.

White is the neutral ground. Colors sit on it cleanly and predictably, which makes it the safer choice for lighter brands and detailed artwork.

Black reads as premium before anything is printed on it. It’s the stronger choice when your artwork is restrained: a single logo, a mark, a name. Less on a black box almost always looks more expensive than more on a white one.

Not sure which fits? Tell us what’s going inside and we’ll recommend one. And if the fit isn’t quite right, see below.

The box is stock. What goes inside doesn’t have to be.

An empty box feels unfinished, and a product sliding around in transit feels worse. There are two ways to deal with the space between your product and the box: fill it, or design it out. One is quick and inexpensive. The other is exact — and it replaces filler rather than working alongside it.

    Crinkle paper fill

Simple & Low Cost – From $0.14 per box

Shredded paper filler that cushions your product, fills the empty space and gives the box a finished look the moment it opens. It’s the fastest and cheapest way to make a stock box feel considered.

    FOUR PAPER OPTIONS

Kraft • White • Standard Color • Premium Metallic

    CHOOSE HOW FULL

    • Light – a visible base layer
    • Middle – product nested in fill
    • Fuller – product surrounded, maximum cushioning

    BEST FOR

    • Gifting, e-commerce, and subscription boxes

    • Products that don’t need to sit in a fixed spot

    • Adding color without changing the box

    • Orders that need to ship quickly

Inserts are quoted per project — send us the product dimensions, or send us the product.

Price per box varies by box size, paper choice, and fill level. Crinkle is supplied in bulk – we can fill the boxes for you or ship the paper alongside them.

    Laser-cut custom inserts

Custom & Exact – Quoted per project

The most common reason to reject a stock box is that nothing quite fits. That’s an insert problem, not a box problem, and we solve it in-house. We cut inserts that hold your product exactly, so it sits where you want it, doesn’t move in transit, and looks deliberate when the box is opened.

    NO FILLER REQUIRED

The platform sits as tall or as shallow as your product needs, and the cuts follow its outline. Done properly there’s no empty space left, which is the point. An insert replaces filler instead of needing it.

    NO TOOLING HERE EITHER

Because the cutting is digital, there’s no die to pay for. One product, five products, an odd shape, or a set of pieces that need to sit in a specific order; it’s a file, not a die. You get the fit of a custom box without the cost of one.

    BEST FOR

    • Products that must sit in a fixed position or order

    Multi-piece sets and sample kits

    • Fragile items needing real protection in transit

    • Anything where opening the box should feel arranged rather than packed

Inserts are quoted per project — send us the product dimensions, or send us the product.
